I Don’t Get Enough Fog In My Life

FIELD NOTE No. 007

Fog never seems to last long enough.

Most people see it as something to drive through.

I see it as something to walk into.

It softens the world.

It separates the near from the far.

The things close to you become sharper.

Everything else quietly fades away.

Painters spend years trying to create that kind of depth with a brush.

Photographers chase it with lenses.

Fog simply arrives and does it on its own.

It turns ordinary places into something worth studying a little longer.

Maybe that’s why I hope for fog more than sunshine.

Not because it hides the world.

Because it slows me down enough to actually see it.
