Before Daybreak

FIELD NOTE No. 008

Ludington Harbor before daybreak is a humbling place.

The lake doesn’t care if you’re ready.

The sun hasn’t asked for your opinion yet.

The lighthouse has already been doing its job all night.

Bobbing up and down in a boat before the first hint of morning reminds you that the world has been moving long before you arrived… and it will keep moving after you leave.
